Meta is gearing up to unveil ‘Gen AI Personas,’ a generative AI chatbot aimed at younger users. Earlier, Meta had reportedly tested chatbot personas on Instagram.

According to The Wall Street Journal, it includes discussions about a ‘Sassy Robot’ persona inspired by Bender from Futurama and an inquisitive ‘Alvin and the Alien’, a short Sci-Fi film released in 2017.

However, there were concerns that Alvin might appear overly curious about users' personal information. Some chatbots even raised eyebrows, with one remarking on romantic experiences. Meta intends to create several such bots, including those geared towards productivity, aiding with coding and other tasks.
Celebrity-generated chatbots
Meta is also reportedly developing a chatbot creation tool, allowing celebrities to create their own chatbots for their fan base. This move aligns with Meta's broader goal of keeping users engaged for longer periods, potentially increasing ad exposure.
Meta's AI endeavors
In addition to chatbots, Meta is working on a more powerful large language model (LLM) to rival OpenAI's GPT-4. The company has also developed AI models to enhance its Horizon Worlds avatars. During Meta Connect, more details about the metaverse project and the new Quest 3 headset will be unveiled.
Gen Z and technology adoption
Younger generations are becoming more accustomed to new technologies, even though Gen Z may not be synonymous with chatbots. The goal of Meta is to use chatbots to successfully provide users with adverts and keep them on the site for a longer period of time.
Meta's entry into the world of generative AI chatbots is a reflection of its continued efforts to broaden its product line and satisfy changing customer tastes, notably those of younger generations.
