Etihad Airways introduces EY-ZERO1 NFT collection, unlocks exclusive rewards

Abu Dhabi-based national airline Etihad Airways launched a new expansion to its EY-ZERO1 non-fungible token (NFT) collection. It has introduced its NFT staking loyalty programme called ‘ Etihad Horizon Club,' while simultaneously expanding its existing NFT collection.
The limited-edition release, featuring 300 unique NFTs, will be the eleventh 3D aircraft model added to the collection, which first debuted in July 2022. The updated collection provides NFT holders with a broader range of rewards, both in the digital realm and the real world, including access to exclusive lounges and the chance to upgrade their Tier status.
Benefits for EY-ZERO1 NFT holders
The newly introduced NFTs are made to resemble the Mission: Impossible-branded Boeing 787 Dreamliner that was presented as part of a promotional tour for the recently released ‘Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One’ film.
EY-ZERO1 NFT holders can look forward to an array of exclusive benefits. These benefits include a 12-month Etihad Guest Silver Tier Status, priority check-in, a 25 percent boost in earning Etihad Guest Miles, and access to the lounge at Abu Dhabi International Airport.
Furthermore, NFT holders gain membership to the Etihad: Virtual Club and a fast-track opportunity to upgrade from Silver to Gold Tier status.
Etihad's foray into web3 programmes
In September 2023, Etihad Airways plans to launch its highly anticipated web3 loyalty programme, which is ‘Etihad Horizon Club.’ As part of this initiative, a staking-for-miles programme will be introduced, allowing the NFT community to lock up their assets and earn Etihad Guest Miles. The earned miles can then be redeemed for flights, upgrades, and other exciting perks.
Collaboration with Arcube
The new NFT collection was developed in collaboration with Arcube, a real-world asset tokenisation firm that is now the official web3 partner of Etihad Airways.
Etihad Airways is among the latest airlines to embrace blockchain-based offerings and web3 loyalty programmes. Other airlines, such as Argentina's Flybondi and Spain's Air Europa, have already ventured into NFT ticketing and perks.
Japan's All Nippon Airways (ANA) has even launched an NFT marketplace, complementing their web3 strategy, which includes a Metaverse travel experience merging passengers' flight histories with their digital avatars.
