PM Narendra Modi is all set to inaugurate India’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) - RapidX on 20 October. The 17-kilometer priority section on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor in Ghaziabad will mark the beginning of this rapid rail service. The initial phase covers the stretch from Sahibabad to Duhai Terminal via Ghaziabad, Guldhar, and Duhai.

When the RRTS project will be completed in 2025, the Delhi-Meerut RRTS will traverse 82 kilometers in just an hour, transforming the way people travel in the region. The project is a joint venture between the Government of India and the state governments of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh under the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC).

Construction of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor began in 2019, and the RRTS trains, similar in appearance to metro trains, come with features like luggage carriers, wider seats, ladies coach and mini-screens.

RapidX’s 82-kilometer journey from Delhi to Meerut will take less than an hour, offering a high-speed ranging 160-180 kmph, high-frequency, safe, reliable, comfortable, and eco-friendly public transit option. Ticket prices will range from a minimum of Rs 15 to a maximum of Rs 160. PM Modi will purchase the first ticket for the RapidX.
