Highlights
- Exponent Energy has unveiled an innovative fast-charging technology capable of recharging any vehicle in just 15 minutes
- It has plans to extend its network to major cities such as Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Delhi-NCR, and Chennai within the current calendar year
In a groundbreaking leap towards accelerating electric vehicle (EV) adoption, Bengaluru-based startup, Exponent Energy, has introduced an innovative fast-charging technology capable of recharging any vehicle in just 15 minutes. The company's visionary approach, combining a distinctive battery management system and an advanced HVAC (heating, ventilation & air-conditioning) system, is poised to revolutionise the EV charging landscape.
Distinctive approach to rapid charging
Exponent Energy takes a unique approach by focusing on battery pack design and an innovative battery management system rather than manufacturing cells in-house. The standout feature, however, is the incorporation of a specialised HVAC system engineered to prevent cells from overheating during swift charging sessions. This innovative HVAC system is a critical element of the stationary charger, ensuring battery packs remain durable even amidst frequent rapid charges.
The company boasts an exceptional achievement: after over 3,000 rapid charging cycles, their battery pack showed a mere 13 percent deterioration—a remarkable feat that outshines the industry average by half.
Revolutionary HVAC system & expansion plans
Exponent Energy's proprietary HVAC system combines their expert software for voltage supply management with a circulation of chilled water, maintaining the battery pack temperature between 25 to 35 degrees Celsius. This meticulously balanced environment contributes significantly to the battery's durability and longevity.
Presently, this technology caters exclusively to fixed charging stations. With 30 operational charging stations, 20 of which are privately owned, already serving the Bengaluru area, Exponent Energy has ambitious plans to extend its network to major cities such as Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Delhi-NCR, and Chennai within the current calendar year.
Intracity charger in action, intercity charger on the horizon
Exponent Energy demonstrated the prowess of its intracity charger by seamlessly replenishing an 8kWh battery in an electric three-wheeler within an astonishing 15-minute timeframe. While enthusiasts await further details, the company has confirmed that an intercity charger is in development and will be unveiled soon, introducing a new level of advancement to electric vehicle charging technology.
