WhatsApp new feature: Introduces ‘View Once’ voice messages for enhanced privacy
WhatsApp has been known to constantly update its platform with enhanced security updates. This time, it is looking to introduce disappearing voice notes on WhatsApp.

Highlights
- WhatsApp is set to launch a ‘View Once’ feature for voice messages, offering users greater privacy
- Currently, the feature is only available to a select group of Android and iOS
- Users will see a ‘1’ icon during voice note recording, and once sent, the voice note will disappear after being dismissed
WhatsApp, a messaging platform owned by Meta, is constantly working on new features to enhance the user experience. Among these, the introduction of a ‘View Once’ mode for voice messages is set to offer an additional layer of privacy.
This feature ensures that voice notes sent via WhatsApp will be for a short time. They can't be stored, forwarded, or exported. As of now, the feature is accessible to a limited group of Android and iOS users who are using the beta version of WhatsApp.

To enable this feature, users need to install the latest WhatsApp beta for Android (version 2.23.22.4) from the Google Play Store or the WhatsApp beta for iOS (version 23.21.1.73) through the TestFlight app.
Once installed, the feature can be activated during voice note recording by tapping a small ‘1’ icon. After sending the voice note with the ‘View Once’ mode enabled, neither the sender nor the recipient can listen to it again after dismissing it.
This feature, much like WhatsApp's existing ‘View Once’ mode for photos and videos, is expected to significantly improve privacy and security when sharing sensitive information via voice notes. It offers users greater control over their content, ensuring that their personal and sensitive information remains secure.
The ‘View Once’ feature for voice notes is a valuable addition to WhatsApp's suite of tools designed to enhance user privacy and data security, further reinforcing its position as a preferred messaging platform for those seeking confidential communication.
