Finding love in the digital age has taken an expensive turn with Tinder's latest offering. While you don't have to splurge on extravagant gifts and fancy dinners during the initial dating phase, Tinder is introducing a premium subscription plan that might require you to dig deeper into your pockets. This exclusive plan, called Tinder Select, aims to enhance users' chances of finding their perfect match but comes with a hefty price tag of approximately Rs. 41,000 per month.
Tinder's ultra-premium subscription
Tinder, a popular US-based online dating app, has unveiled a new ultra-premium subscription plan named Tinder Select. Priced at $499 per month (roughly Rs. 41,000), this subscription is invitation-only and offers users access to a range of exclusive features designed to elevate their dating experience.

Exclusive benefits of Tinder select
Advanced search and matching: Tinder Select subscribers gain access to advanced search and matching capabilities, allowing them to connect with a broader range of potential matches.
Messaging freedom: One distinctive feature of this premium plan is the ability to message individuals they haven't matched with previously, expanding communication opportunities.
Profile prioritisation: Profiles of Tinder Select members are prioritised for some of the platform's most sought-after users, potentially increasing their visibility and interactions.
The select screen criteria
Notably, this premium offering is available to less than 1 percent of Tinder's user base, specifically those considered "extremely active." To be eligible for Tinder Select, users must meet a set of criteria, known as the "5-point Select Screen," which includes:
1. A verified profile photo
2. A profile biography
3. Mentioning at least five interests
4. Displaying a minimum of four images
5. Providing details about the type of relationship they're seeking on the app
Once these criteria are met and the profile is approved, Tinder Select members are awarded an exclusive Select badge for their profile. Interestingly, users can choose whether to display this badge, allowing them to keep their premium status discreet if preferred.
Tinder's perspective
Tinder's Chief Product Officer, Mark Van Ryswyk, explained the motivation behind this premium plan, stating, ‘‘We know that there is a subset of highly engaged and active users who prioritise more effective and efficient ways to find connections.”
The development of Tinder Select involved extensive testing and feedback with this specific user group to create a tailored offering.
Comparison to the league
Tinder Select draws inspiration from The League, a dating app acquired by Tinder's parent company, Match Group. The League targets ambitious, career-oriented singles and charges users up to $1,000 a week for its services. However, The League utilises human matchmakers, potentially justifying the higher cost compared to Tinder Select, which focuses on enhancing the existing Tinder experience.
While Tinder Select offers an array of enhanced features for those seeking an upgraded dating experience, its premium price point may not be accessible to everyone. Tinder's selective approach in choosing eligible users reflects an effort to cater to a specific audience.
Whether this exclusive subscription plan becomes a game-changer in the world of online dating remains to be seen, but it undoubtedly adds an intriguing dimension to the pursuit of love in the digital age.
