Alibaba partners with Avalanche to create a metaverse launchpad

The Chinese multinational tech giant, Alibaba Group, has partnered with Avalanche, a layer-one blockchain protocol, to deploy metaverse projects on the Avalanche network.

Titled ‘Cloudverse’, the metaverse launcher, is developed to provide an end-to-end platform for businesses to customise and maintain their metaverse spaces to try and find new ways of engaging with their customers.

Cloudverse: Offering cost-effective metaverse solution

Through this partnership, Alibaba Cloud will provide computing and storage to its clients, while Avalanche will provide the technology for building the metaverse spaces. Further, Metaverse Universal Assets, also known as MUA DAO, a third partner, will provide the middleware, i.e., it will serve as the service layer for the platform, thereby helping to implement the integration and customisation for metaverses.

As per the team at Avalanche, “Cloudverse gives businesses an easy, white-glove, and cost-effective way to expand their brands to the Web3 virtual world.”, Further,  John Wu, president of Ava Labs mentioned in an announcement, "Cloudverse powered by Avalanche offers millions of consumer-facing businesses a quick, low-overhead, one-stop gateway into Web3." He further added, “We look forward to seeing how businesses expand into the Cloudverse — and to continuing to build the future with Alibaba Cloud.” Moreover, the launch of the Cloudverse will bring the industry a simple, high-touch, and cost-effective metaverse solution.

The partnership aims to provide businesses that operate inside the Alibaba ecosystem with a fast and seamless way to launch and maintain their own metaverses.

Alibaba and Avalanche team up again

This is not the first instance that Alibaba and Avalanche have partnered together. Last year in December, Alibaba deployed IaaS, i.e., infrastructure-as-a-service,  allowing Asia-based users to launch node validators on the Avalanche Network so as to increase blockchain adoption in the region.
