The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Meta have announced the beginning of the ‘Creators of Metaverse’ programme in a ground-breaking collaboration. With the help of this innovative programme, India's young people would be better prepared for the world of immersive technology.

At the AICTE offices in New Delhi, the programme was formally launched, constituting a key step towards developing a skilled workforce in XR technologies.

Programme includes faculty & students

The ‘Creators of Metaverse’ programme, run by 1M1B, aims to equip 20,000 faculty members and 100,000 college students with critical understanding and technical Augmented Reality (AR) capabilities. The Meta Spark platform will be used for this learning project.

The programme, led by the AICTE Training and Learning Bureau (TLB), has the potential to transform India's educational system and encourage young people to be innovative.

All about the programme

Through the ‘Creators of Metaverse’ programme, students may explore Augmented Reality (AR) and develop their creative potential. The programme includes a 20-hour, 10-day curriculum that is organised in a gamified fashion.

The use of high-grade AR software tools will enable students to create portfolios, grow their professional networks, and experience working in a virtual environment. The course also helps students pass the Meta Spark Creator Exam, enabling them to become certified Meta Spark makers.

By designating a faculty member as their point of contact (POC) at their respective educational institutions, interested students can apply to the programme. In order to register and learn more about the programme, they can visit https://bit.ly/compoc. Additionally, it costs nothing to take part in the programme, as it is available free of charge.

Key personalities witnessed

The launch event witnessed the presence of key stakeholders, the chairman of AICTE, Prof. (Dr.) T G Sitharam, and an advisor to AICTE, Dr. Ramesh Unnikrishnan, were present at the inaugural ceremony along with other top officials.

In an interview with Meta, Natasha Jog, Head of Instagram Policy Programmes, and Shivang Raina, Manager of Policy Programmes, India, underlined the commitment of the government to advancing technology in education. This ambitious project also received the support of representatives from One Million for One Billion (1M1B).
