Threads introduces a new feature: 'Tags' for simplified post-categorisation
Instagram Threads, rivalling Twitter's 'X', unveiled 'Tags', a fresh twist on post-organisation. Different from hashtags, Threads Tags promise a simpler way to group and explore similar posts.

Highlights
- Instagram Threads introduces one tag per post for streamlined categorisation
- Threads elegantly showcases tags in subtle blue text
- Easy tagging on Threads with hashtag or creative freedom for personalised expressions
In the busy world of social media, Instagram Threads, positioned as a competitor to Twitter's 'X', is making progress with its latest update, a feature called 'Tags'. This new addition functions similarly to hashtags, helping users categorise and group similar posts around specific topics.
Unlike the flexibility of using multiple hashtags on Instagram, Threads takes a different route. Each post on Instagram Threads can only have a single tag or topic but it can also be a sentence. This means users need to be precise in choosing the right tag to make their posts discoverable to those interested in that particular topic.

Invisible Tags
In another interesting twist, the tags you add won't clutter your published post. Instead, they appear in blue text, resembling a hyperlink. This approach aims to streamline the user experience and make it easier for those specifically searching for posts related to a certain topic or tag.
Creating & adding Tags
Users have the freedom to use existing topics or create their unique tags. Adding a tag is simple; you can use the hashtag symbol in line with your text, and it won't visually appear in the published post. Alternatively, if you want to add a tag to your post, just tap the hashtag symbol on the screen when you're creating a new post. It's like giving a label to your post so people can find it easily.Threads allows you to use spaces and special characters in your tags too.
Global rollout
The good news for Instagram Threads users is that the Tags feature is available immediately after its debut. Meanwhile, talks over social media suggest that Threads might make its debut in Europe later this month, bringing its innovative features to a broader audience.
Instagram Threads' 'Tags' feature offers a fresh approach to post organisation, combining simplicity with precision, and looks set to enhance the user experience in the world of social media.
