Apple: A true innovator in the mobile world
The iPhone’s seamless integration of hardware and software sets a standard for smartphones, making it truly innovative in the mobile world. However, for those who are not aware of the features or not familiar, Apple unveiled its Emergency SOS via satellite feature alongside the iPhone 14 series last year.
This innovative functionality is now poised to make a return with the upcoming iPhone 15 series, which is now scheduled for release on 12 September of this month.
This remarkable feature empowers users in select regions who find themselves in emergencies with cellular service or the regions where there is no internet service, enabling them to connect with emergency services swiftly and without any interruptions through their iPhones.
SpaceX part of $64 million deal
Globalstar has committed to paying a total of $64 million in 'launch-related payments on a periodic basis' until all the satellites are launched by 2025, as per the agreement. Interestingly, Globalstar acquired these satellites from the Canadian company called 'Macdonald Dettwiler and Associates Corp. for a substantial $327 million figure back in Feb 2022, with a noteworthy $252 million loan provided by the iPhone maker.
Notably, the collaboration is not the first time that Elon Musk's SpaceX has lent its support to Globalstar, having previously aided this Apple partner in launching satellites from Florida's Cape Canaveral.
Launching a satellite extends the reach of Emergency SOS
As the constellation of satellites orbiting Earth continues to expand, there is a palpable sense of anticipating the potential expansion of the Emergency SOS via satellite feature.
This innovative technology is available in select regions like the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Germany, and France. This feature has now garnered widespread attention for its life-saving capabilities.
Now, the question that lingers in the minds of many is whether this expansion is a glimpse of a more globally accessible future or is just a meticulous effort for seamless communication. Who Knows! But this satellite launch will bring out many new realms to the iPhones that will be loved by its fans.
