China unveils ‘world's fastest internet’ network, can send 150 HD films in one second

In a remarkable technological leap, China has unveiled the world's fastest internet network, capable of transmitting data at an astounding 1.2 terabits per second (Tbps). This breakthrough, a collaborative effort between Tsinghua University, China Mobile, Huawei Technologies, and Cernet Corporation, marks a significant milestone in the evolution of internet infrastructure.

Spanning over 3,000 kilometers, the high-speed network connects Beijing, Wuhan, and Guangzhou through an extensive optical fiber cabling system. Its exceptional speed, ten times faster than most current major internet routes, promises to revolutionise data transmission and communication capabilities.

Xu Mingwei of Tsinghua University drew an analogy between the new internet backbone and a superfast train track, explaining that it replaces the need for 10 regular tracks to carry the same amount of data, resulting in a more efficient and cost-effective system.
