Reliance Jio has taken a big leap in the world of automotive technology by launching ‘JioMotive,’ a device designed to convert ordinary cars into smart vehicles. JioMotive is a compact on-board diagnostics (OBD) device that is capable of transforming a regular car into a smart car.

The JioMotive gadget is designed to be plugged into a car's OBD port, usually situated beneath the dashboard, and establishes a connection to the Jio network using a built-in eSIM. JioMotive is available on Reliance Digital's website for Rs. 4,999, which represents a substantial reduction from the original Rs. 11,999.

How to set up JioMotive?

JioMotive is a user-friendly plug-and-play device, making it hassle-free for car owners. Here are the steps to get started:

Download JioThings App: First, download and install the JioThings App from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

Log in or Sign up: Log in or sign up to JioThings with your Jio number, then click on the ‘+’ symbol and select JioMotive.

Enter device details: Enter the IMEI number from the JioMotive box or the device itself. Fill in your car's information, including registration number, car name, make, model, fuel type, and year of manufacture.

Plug & play: Plug the JioMotive device into your car's OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) port. Start your car while ensuring it's in an open space with good Jio network coverage.

Enable data sharing: Agree to the terms and conditions of the JioEverywhereConnect Number Sharing Plan and click ‘Enable.’

Activation: Click on ‘JioJCR1440’ and proceed. You'll receive a confirmation message on the screen indicating that the activation request has been received by Jio.

Data flow: Keep your car on for 10 minutes to activate the device. Your car's data will start appearing in the JioThings app in approximately one hour. If you need any assistance, you can also contact customer care at 1800-896-9999.

e-SIM for seamless connectivity

One of the standout features of JioMotive is its e-SIM compatibility. It shares data with your existing mobile data plan, eliminating the need for a separate SIM card or data plan. This ensures that your smart car remains connected without the hassle of additional data subscriptions.

Additional features for car health & safety

JioMotive also offers valuable insights into your vehicle's health, such as battery health, engine load, coolant temperature, and air intake temperature. It even provides access to more than 200 engine diagnostic codes, helping you better understand and maintain your car's performance.

Geo-fencing & time fence

For added safety and security, JioMotive features Geo-Fencing and Time Fence options. Geo-fencing sends alerts when your vehicle crosses predefined boundaries, while Time Fence alerts you if the car is turned on during specific periods.
