Highly anticipated Apple Vision Pro headset ‘Approved’ for on-time launch by Tim Cook
Tim Cook just confirmed that Apple's new and highly-anticipated headset will be released on time and that he's seen "the whole third season" of Ted Lasso on it.

Highlights
- When Apple announced the Vision Pro, they said it was their most ambitious product yet
- At the product's announcement, Apple said that the display is so detailed that it can display 4K video right away
- In a CBS Sunday Morning interview, Apple's CEO confirmed that the headset, considered as vital as the iPhone, remains on schedule for release
Apple Vision Pro, the company's highly anticipated virtual reality headset, was officially unveiled earlier this year and is set to be released on schedule.
Apple CEO Tim Cook said he had personally been using the headset and even watched the comedy show “Ted Lasso” on it. He also said the launch of the headset is expected to be on schedule.
The headset is designed so that apps can now do more than just appear on a phone screen. Users can break free from the ideal screen and work in a visually immersive space that’s different and flexible.
It’s possible that the new Vision Pro will give users the ability to have apps interact with the world around them, like virtual objects in augmented reality.
It's like giving apps more freedom to be creative and useful in different situations, and Apple has stated that it marks a shift towards "spatial computing," which was defined in 2003 by Simon Greenwold, as "human interaction with a machine in which the machine retains and manipulates referents to real objects and spaces". This allows applications to be "freed" from the limitations of a display.
An expensive proposition
Apple announced the headset's price at a substantial $3,499 during the June launch event. The headset is set to become available in the United States early next year.
In an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Apple's CEO confirmed that the headset's release is proceeding as planned.
The headset is being positioned as one of Apple's most important product launches since the iPhone, underlining its strategic importance for the company.
Design & build
The Vision Pro headset is described by Apple as the company’s “most ambitious” product to date.
The headset features glass on both the inside and outside of the headset, as well as an aluminium frame. The headset’s headband wraps around your head for a smooth and comfortable fit.
Apple’s headset has a high display range and is capable of displaying 4K video at its native resolution, providing users with an immersive experience.
Tim Cook's response on the Vision Pro headset
In response to a question about the release date of the product, Mr. Cook affirmed that it is indeed "on track" for an early 2024 release. He also shared that he personally uses the product regularly, even watching the entire third season of "Ted Lasso" on the Vision Pro headset.
Cook acknowledged having access to unique features and highlighted the complexity of both its development and manufacturing, emphasising the need for innovation in these areas.
