Highlights
- PM Modi and Biden sign MoU between Bharat 6G Alliance and Next G Alliance, deepening cooperation in the telecom industry
- Two Joint Task Forces established for collaboration in Open RAN and cutting-edge 5G/6G research
- Leaders express support for resilient semiconductor supply chains, highlighting significant investments by tech giants
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden have joined hands for a significant tech collaboration. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between two influential alliances: the Bharat 6G Alliance and the Next G Alliance. These alliances bring together technology experts and telecom leaders to work together for the benefit of all.
Joint Task Forces for tech advancement
In a move to boost tech teamwork, two Joint Task Forces are being set up. One would focus on 5G Open Radio Access (Open RAN) technology, which is a new way to build mobile networks, and the other on research and development in 5G and 6G technologies. This means smarter and faster ways to connect with each other and the world.

There's also exciting news about 5G technology. Reports suggest that a “big telecom company” in India is teaming up with a US company to try out 5G technology before using it everywhere. This is like testing a new recipe before serving it to everyone.
Partnership beyond borders
The leaders are looking forward to Indian companies getting involved in the US Rip and Replace Programme (Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Reimbursement Program, widely known in the telecom industry as the 'rip and replace' programme). President Biden is happy about India's support for this programme. It's like helping each other make things better.
Investing in tech and innovation
PM Modi and Biden are big fans of technology and want to make sure there are enough computer chips for everyone. They are pleased about how investments in microchip technology are shaping and how both parties are investing a considerable amount to do more research and development in India. Another company, Advanced Micro Devices, is also investing a large sum to bring more technology to India.
Global tech progress
The leaders are excited that companies from the United States, like Micron, LAM Research, and Applied Materials, are making great progress with their plans. They believe this progress will make technology better for everyone.
India and the United States are teaming up to explore something very special called Quantum technology. They want to work together to discover new things in the realms of advanced tech. Also, India's S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Kolkata, is now part of the Quantum Economic Development Consortium. It's like a club where they can learn more about quantum technology.
