Crypto prices today 15 Dec 2023: Bitcoin cools off at $42.6K mark, memecoins traded in green

On Friday, Bitcoin, the largest crypto across the world, witnessed a decrease of 0.33 percent over the last 24 hours. Its value reached $42,635.20, at the time of writing this article (1100 IST). Many altcoins like Ethereum, XRP, Solana and BNB increased by 0.47 percent, 1.19 percent, 6.29 percent and 0.57 percent, respectively. However, coins like Cardano and Polygon decreased by 2.15 percent and 1.59 percent, respectively.

On 15 December, the global crypto market cap stood at $1.61 trillion, registering a growth of 0.29 percent, the total crypto market volume also witnessed an increase of 4.76 percent to $68.28 billion.

At present, Bitcoin’s dominance is at 51.9 percent, while that of Ethereum is at 17.0 percent.

Gainers and losers

Today's top gainer was Bonk, which grew by 104.42 percent since the last day. It was followed by Helium, WOO Network and Osmosis, among others. On the other hand, KuCoin Token was the top decliner of the day, recording a fall of 19.43 percent in its prices. Further, Aelf, BitTorrent (New), etc. were in the red zone.

Memecoins traded in green

Today, most of the popular memecoins displayed green trends, Elon Musk’s favourite Dogecoin increased by 0.61 percent. Other memecoins like Shiba Inu, Pepe, Bonk, Memecoin etc. showed upward trajectory and increased by 0.75 percent, 0.46 percent, 104.42 percent, 5.21 percent, respectively, at the time of writing this article.

Metaverse tokens shows upward trend

Most of the top Metaverse tokens registered an upward trend in their value. Render, Theta Network, and Axie Infinity rose by 1.69 percent, 0.82 percent, and 0.26 percent, respectively. Contrastingly, Internet Computer, Decentraland, ApeCoin etc., were down by 0.20 percent, 0.49 percent, and 1.48 percent respectively amid the market fluctuations.
