- Otter chatbot enables meeting recording on Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet
- Free accounts will only be allowed to ask five questions at every meeting
- The Otter's bot feature will soon be made accessible to all users
Otter, a company that provides automatic transcription, has announced its plans of launching a new chatbot powered by artificial intelligence (AI) that will enable users to ask questions before, during, and after meetings. The Otter’s bot function will be made available to all users in the upcoming days, and information from AI chats won't be given to outside parties, said the company.
A peek into the new chatbot
Otter.ai is developing a new chatbot tool named ‘Otter AI Chat’ that can attend online video meetings to assist users in summarising the important pointers and recalling items they have missed, such as dates or statistics. According to the company, it is an AI meeting participant that can provide content like to-do lists depending on what is being discussed during the video meeting.
How can 'Otter AI Chat' help you?
Otter Chat is a platform for live meetings on Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams that is actively transcribing discussions that have been captured and already transcribed.
The functionality will be accessible to all Otter users at no additional cost, although free accounts will only be allowed to ask five questions at every meeting. Furthermore, the premium accounts (which start at $16.99 a month) will not be subject to restrictions.
-The AI chatbot can take notes, record audio, collect slides, and produce summaries.
- During the meeting, you can ask questions live in the chat window and receive prompt responses.
- Otter can join and record meetings on Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet by connecting to your Google or Microsoft calendar.
- In a virtual meeting, when someone shares a slide, Otter will immediately record and add it to the meeting notes, giving the full context of what was discussed.
Otter outperforms other chatbots
The company said that, "In comparison with chatbots like ChatGPT, which concentrate on 1:1 chats, Otter's bot can respond to numerous individuals at once. Additionally, team members can tag one another for clarification or action items."
In February 2023, the company introduced ‘OtterPilot’ bot, which automatically sent meeting summaries to attendees. Additionally, the bot adds screenshots of significant slides to the meeting notes and transcripts.
In recent years, as various Large Language Models (LLMs) have advanced, meeting-related applications have increasingly included AI-generated meeting notes and summaries in various forms. Meanwhile, the company is attempting to add an intelligence layer to the current AI-powered note taking capability with the release of ‘Otter AI Chat,’ allowing users to ask in-depth queries.
