Generative AI is revolutionising the way we think about creativity and intelligence. Of late, several AI tools have been launched which can create compelling images and written work in response to user prompts.
Adobe, the renowned software company, on Tuesday, announced incorporating a generative-AI art software, known as Firefly into its Photoshop, which is Adobe’s flagship image editing tool. Here, it must be noted that this generative-AI art software will be incorporated through a new tool called Generative Fill.

Get to know what all Photoshop’s new AI tool can do
Firefly, Adobe’s newest tool AI tool, has been trained on public domain content, but also on commercially safe images, openly licensed work, as well as photos available in Adobe Stock from Photoshop. It does particularly well with landscapes like most of the generative image generators, however, it seems to struggle with text.
- Here, users can give details about the image or object they want Firefly to create and the latter will get to work.
- Further, the software giant will automatically add its content credentials to any images using the AI features.
- The new tool allows users to add or delete elements from images with merely a text prompt.
- Moreover, by automatically matching the lighting and style of the existing images, this stool can expand the image beyond its borders with far more precision than previously available.
- It can also fill in the missing areas of an expanded photo automatically in just a few seconds.
- Using natural-language text prompts, users can describe the kind of image or object they want Firefly to create and the tool will get to work.

Who can access this AI tool?
Currently, this tool is available in a new Photoshop beta app. In other words, users with access to Adobe Photoshop's beta releases of the desktop version will have access to Generative Fill. However, Adobe plans to extend the product to all Photoshop customers sometime in ‘the second half of 2023,’ suggests reports.
