An extensive study, encompassing 2 lakh individuals, revealed that 82 percent of working professionals expressed worry about the impact of technological evolution on job security.

Upskilling as a proactive strategy

Despite the prevailing concerns about job loss, a remarkable 78 percent of respondents acknowledged upskilling as a proactive strategy to navigate the rapidly changing work landscape. This indicates a growing awareness of the necessity for continuous learning and skill enhancement to remain relevant in the dynamic job market.

Role of AI in shaping careers

The report further delves into the pivotal role of artificial intelligence in influencing career trajectories. It noted that 39 percent of respondents believe AI knowledge significantly influences career growth opportunities. However, a significant 43 percent expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of adequate AI training provided by their employers, highlighting a gap between perceived importance and actual training provisions.

Digging deeper into the growing demand for AI-related skills, the report predicts that AI will be the most sought-after skill in the next five years, offering the highest-paying jobs. This prediction sheds light on the evolving job market and the need for professionals to equip themselves with AI-related expertise.

Frequency and preferences for upskilling

The report reveals that 43.5 percent of working professionals believe there is a growing need for upskilling every six months, with new technologies being introduced. Additionally, 81 percent of respondents who upskilled in the last year chose online courses in their learning journeys, indicating a preference for flexible and accessible education.

Lucrative opportunities in AI-related jobs

An additional report by ZDNET (a business technology news website) on AI-related jobs unveils the high demand for positions like the artificial intelligence prompt engineer. This role, responsible for creating questions and instructions for programs like ChatGPT, is currently in high demand and offers a salary as high as $300,000, around Rs 2.4 crores.
