To bolster this endeavour, the partnership will construct AI infrastructure that outpaces India's current fastest supercomputer by more than tenfold. Nvidia will provide access to its cutting-edge NVIDIA GH200 Grace Hopper Superchip and the NVIDIA DGX Cloud, an AI supercomputing service in the cloud.

The GH200 Superchip signifies a monumental shift in computing architecture, offering unmatched performance and substantial memory bandwidth. These resources will be hosted in AI-ready data centres with plans for expansion to an impressive 2,000 MW.

The execution and management of this initiative will be led by Jio, Reliance Industries' telecom arm, renowned for its expertise in mobile telephony, 5G spectrum, and fibre networks. According to Nvidia, this AI infrastructure marks a pioneering step for Reliance Jio Infocomm into the realm of AI.

The global AI revolution is poised to reshape industries and daily life. Reliance is committed to harnessing India's immense potential in AI by developing applications and services for its 450 million Jio customers. Additionally, it aims to provide energy-efficient AI infrastructure to scientists, developers, and startups across the nation.

This landmark partnership coincides with a recent meeting between India's Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, and Jensen Huang, the CEO of Nvidia. They discussed India's promising prospects in the field of artificial intelligence, with Mr Huang lauding India's strides in this sector and its pool of talented youth.

AI holds the potential to empower rural farmers with weather information and crop prices in their local languages via mobile phones. It can offer expert medical diagnosis and imaging analysis on a massive scale, bridging gaps in healthcare access.

Furthermore, AI can enhance the prediction of cyclonic storms, utilising decades of atmospheric data to safeguard vulnerable communities. Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, recognising India's scale, data, and talent.

He emphasised that with advanced AI computing infrastructure, Jio can develop its own large language models, fostering generative AI applications for India's people.

Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, underlined the transformative potential of this collaboration. He highlighted the role of such technology supercenters in propelling India's digital evolution, much like the pivotal role played by Jio in the nation's digital journey.
