The interesting thing is that Google made its own special computer chips just for AI. These chips are like super-fast brains that can understand things really well, like pictures and other data.

New customers & partnerships

During the Google Next conference, Google announced that it has gained new customers for its cloud software, including well-known names like General Motors and Estee Lauder Companies. This indicates a growing interest in utilising Google's AI-powered solutions for business operations and innovation.

Enhanced AI infrastructure & models

Google has expanded its AI infrastructure by adding 20 new AI models to its existing collection, bringing the total to 100. These AI models are designed to assist businesses in various tasks, from data analysis to customer engagement. Additionally, Google has partnered with Meta Platforms to offer access to the AI model LLaMa 2 and with Anthropic to provide access to the AI model Claude 2.

What is SynthID?

To cater to the specific needs of enterprises, Google has introduced several tools to enhance productivity and security. One remarkable tool is SynthID, which allows the watermarking of images generated using AI. This watermarking remains invisible to the human eye and is resistant to alterations, ensuring the authenticity and integrity of the images.

Guiding commercial clients

Thomas Kurian, the head of Google Cloud, said in an interview with Reuters that the company's major commercial clients must be cautious and operate at a different pace.

He further added, Go carefully and systematically, since it's crucial that you approach this as a strategic software development, which is what we often advise commercial customers to do, he added. There has been a certain kind of FOMO that says, "I need to be in generative AI for the sake of generative AI."

Cutting-edge AI chip: TPU v5e

One of the highlights of Google's announcements is the unveiling of the TPU v5e chip, a specialised chip optimised for large language models and generative AI. While not as powerful as the flagship fifth-generation AI chip, TPU v5e is designed to efficiently train large models and deliver content from those models.

Google has ingeniously linked multiple TPU v5e chips together, creating what they term a ‘supercomputer.’ This supercomputer setup enables businesses to tackle complex computational challenges by connecting several pods.

Google's effort to expand its AI offerings for businesses comes in response to the evolving AI landscape. With competitors like Microsoft also making significant strides in AI technology, Google aims to provide a strategic and deliberate approach to its enterprise customers.
