As the G20 Summit commences today in New Delhi, India is poised to unveil a cutting-edge technological innovation for the attending delegates GITA, short for Guidance, Inspiration, Transformation, and Action, represents a generative AI interface akin to ChatGPT, taking center stage at this prestigious global event.
The Indian government is gearing up to showcase its digital prowess with a special focus on the Digital India experience zone in Halls 4 and 14 of Bharat Mandapam, located at the main venue of the G20 summit, Pragati Maidan.This exhibit will shine a spotlight on a range of technological initiatives, with a standout feature being the AI-powered "Gita" app.
GITA’s innovative application blends ‘technology’ and ‘spirituality’ in a distinctive manner, making it a noteworthy highlight of the event.

The development of India's own ChatGPT-equivalent generative AI model, which will be based on large-language models (LLMs) using Bhashini, its digital repository of digital content in 22 Indian languages as well as some international languages, has been accelerated, according to officials, as the government prepares to make its ASK GITA tool available to the general public.
Once it is built, the goal is to make the generative AI tool available as a digital public good, similar to how India has made its digital public infrastructure, such as Aadhaar, Unified Payments Interface (UPI), Digilocker, etc., available to other nations.
G20 to feature flagship programme
As part of its G20 presentation, the government will highlight the Digital India Experience Zone, showcasing flagship programmes such as Aadhar, UPI, DigiLocker, and Bhashini.
Delegates will also have access to an interactive WhatsApp bot called ‘Bhashini Jugalbandi’, providing information in their preferred languages, including details on G20 and tourism, with just a simple text query.
