Highlights
- OpenAI introduced 'Browse with Bing' in ChatGPT, addressing the limitation of static data up to September 2021
- DALLE-3 integration remains in beta, potentially leading to unexpected results
OpenAI has launched the highly anticipated 'Browse with Bing' feature for ChatGPT, which previously had a data limit up to September 2021. This means it could only browse information updated till September 2021. The integration of Bing with ChatGPT enables users to access real time and current information on the web.
Initially, it will be made available to ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise users, with plans for a wider rollout. To use the feature, users can go to ChatGPT app settings, select 'New Features,' and opt for 'Browse with Bing.' Then, they can choose the GPT-4 model and activate 'Browse with Bing.
In addition to real-time internet searches, OpenAI has incorporated DALLE-3, the latest text-to-image generator, directly into ChatGPT. This integration enables users to create images within the app, eliminating the need to switch between platforms.

Content access concerns
OpenAI initially withdrew the update due to paywall (a system in which access to all or part of a website is restricted to paid subscribers) content display concerns. In September, they re-introduced it in beta after refining the AI model to respect website restrictions (robot.txt files).
DALLE-3 in beta
The DALLE-3 integration is currently in beta stages, so users will receive potential unexpected outcomes. Like 'Browse with Bing,' users can access DALL-E 3 by switching from the GPT-4 tab within the app.
This new integration propels ChatGPT in the right direction to become the ultimate web browser. While Google still rules the roost in the online search department, OpenAI is snapping at it’s heels and this may also help Microsoft get back in the Search Engine game.
