In celebration of the 50th anniversary of legendary martial artist and actor, Bruce Lee's passing, the Metaverse project by 'Byte City,' a well-known social entertainment platform, has announced plans to honour the famous Bruce Lee with a Metaverse event.

It has announced a special event to pay tribute to the iconic figure. Bruce Lee, who passed away in 1973, will be virtually reappearing in the Metaverse, allowing fans and enthusiasts to engage with his avatar and learn martial arts from the master himself.

The endeavour, in collaboration with Magic Eden, which is a decentralised exchange for the peer-to-peer trading of non-fungible tokens (NFTs), aims to restore Bruce Lee's legacy by utilising avatars.

Minting avatars

Participants or aficionados who are eager to join the interactive experience can create their own avatars of Bruce Lee by minting them on the Ethereum and Polygon blockchains. The minting process already started for Polygon users on 27 July 2023 and for Ethereum users it will be available on 28 July 2023, at 9 am PST (Pacific Standard Time).

Minting an avatar will grant users access to playable characters within the Byte City Metaverse game. After successfully minting an avatar, players can utilise their martial arts masterpieces in the game within 24 hours.

Bruce Lee's venture into web3 & NFTs

This is not the first time Bruce Lee's legacy has ventured into the web3 world. Earlier, the Bruce Lee Foundation, under the guidance of Shannon Lee, the late actor's daughter, teamed up with the non-fungible token (NFT) video platform ‘Shibuya.’ Together, they created an exclusive NFT collection called ‘The House of Lee.’ The release of the NFT collection received significant attention, raking in approximately $730,000.
