This time, they are captivating headlines by revolutionising technology and adopting a unique approach to pizza delivery—using jetpacks to rise high through the skies.
By introducing jetpack flying as a means of delivering pizzas, Domino's has successfully secured a prominent spot in the news once again, capturing attention with their pioneering approach to transportation and customer service.
Pizza drop via jetpack
Pizza lovers at the Glastonbury festival in the United Kingdom were treated to an extraordinary sight as they witnessed an incredibly surreal event. Domino's decided to test a unique delivery method by equipping their delivery agents with jetpacks, resulting in agents soaring through the air to deliver pizzas to festival attendees.
An awe-inspiring delivery
The footage showcasing the flying agents at the Glastonbury festival quickly spread like wildfire across various social media platforms. Domino's UK posted to their official Instagram page accompanied by a caption that says, "Who's seen our Rocket Man jetpack deliveries to Glastonbury this week?"
In the caption, Domino's also playfully tagged renowned British singer Elton John, fondly referred to as 'The Rocket Man'. They addressed Elton John, asking, "Elton John, wanna slice?"
The video depicts a delivery agent dressed in a jetpack suit gracefully descending onto a hill where people had gathered near their tents. Attached to the suit is a sizable box designed to preserve the freshness of the food during transportation.
With over 266K views and 5K likes, the video has captivated online audiences, leaving many astonished. Some users even drew comparisons between these delivery agents and the formidable Avengers.
Domino’s collaborates with 'Gravity Industries'
According to a Daily Mirror report, Domino's successfully accomplished this extraordinary endurance through a collaboration with ‘Gravity Industries,’ a leading innovator in jet suit technology.
Sam Wilson, the Jet Suit Deployment Director at Domino's, explained the motivation behind adopting this unconventional delivery approach. He stated that "When we realised serving slices inside the festival was impossible, we took inspiration from this year’s headliner to launch our own rapid delivery trial—it was a bit of a no-brainer."
Furthermore, a spokeswoman for Gravity Industries emphasised their excitement for this exceptional partnership. "Keeping pizza piping hot using the Jet Suit is definitely an unusual utilisation of our technology, and pizza isn't in our normal flight plan," the representative said.
Domino's continuous utilisation of cutting-edge technology, from drone delivery to the recent jetpack innovation, leaves room for speculation about their future endeavours. It remains to be seen what other groundbreaking advancements Domino's might introduce in the days to come.
