  • Atif Khan perceives the new opportunity to work at Thirweb exciting and full of Web3 growth
  • Former Facebook executive eyes big on the development of Web3-native casual mobile games

In an effort to spur the growth of the web3 gaming sector, ThirdWeb, a web3 projects managing platform has hired former Facebook executive Atif Khan as its new vice president of gaming.

Khan worked at Facebook for eight years, most recently holding the position of Head of Mid-Market & In-App Ads for Global Gaming. In 2021, Khan left Facebook and accepted the position of Chief Operating Officer at web3 gaming infrastructure company, Stardust.

While sharing the excitement, Khan mentioned that one of the key reasons behind joining Thirdweb was the opportunity to “sell the full stack to a game developer.”

Thirdweb focuses on helping developers

As per the information from ThirdWeb, it has provided a web3 infrastructure toolkit to help its developers design a variety of decentralised applications, including blockchain games to DAOs (decentralised autonomous organisation), NFTs (non-fungible tokens), and more. Moreover, at a $160 million valuation, this San-Francisco-based startup raised a $24 million series A funding round in August 2022 from investors including Hahn Ventures, Polygon Labs, Coinbase Ventures, and Shopify.

As per Khan, developers must have access to tools and programs including RPC nodes, asset minting, wallet construction, payments processing, marketplace creation, API, and game engine tools, among others, to build web3 games. As a matter of fact, these services are mostly sourced from a variety of providers, but Thirdweb attempts to streamline and simplify this overall process for developers. .

“We want to build a great, one-stop shop tool that is comprehensive,” said Khan, “so that developers don't have to go to seven or eight different places.”

Atif Khan plans to enhance casual mobile gaming experience

Khan thinks web3-native casual mobile games will drive widespread adoption more effectively than conventional mobile games that already use the technology. However, his ultimate goal is to integrate Thirdweb's capabilities into a variety of crypto-infused experiences.

“We want to become the best, most comprehensive dev tool, not only in gaming but across Web3, " mentioned Khan on his new venture at Thirweb.
