Delhi Metro passengers, rejoice! Getting your metro tickets has just become as easy as sending a WhatsApp message. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has expanded its WhatsApp-based ticketing system, which was first introduced on the Airport Express Line in June.

Due to its tremendous success, the DMRC has extended this convenient service to almost all metro lines in the Delhi-NCR region, including the Gurugram Rapid Metro. This expansion is made possible through a collaboration between Meta (the parent company of WhatsApp) and its authorised partner, Pelocal Fintech Pvt. Ltd.

WhatsApp is the go-to messaging platform for many Indians, and now, buying a metro ticket is as simple as messaging a friend or family member. According to Vikas Kumar, Managing Director of DMRC, "We are confident that this integration will encourage more commuters to choose the Delhi metro as their preferred mode of travel."

Starting the Whatsapp ticketing process is simple:

1. Passenger can send a ‘Hi’ Message to +91 9650855800 on Whatsapp.

2. The WhatsApp chatbot is user-friendly and supports both Hindi and English languages.

3. The service covers 12 Metro lines, including 288 metro stations, including the Gurugram Metro Line.

4. This expansion allows metro travelers to buy their tickets conveniently from home.

Here are some important details about the WhatsApp ticketing service for Delhi Metro:

1. Users can generate up to six QR tickets at once.

2. Tickets can be booked between 6 am and 9 pm for all lines, and from 4 am to 11 pm for the Airport Line.

3. Ticket cancellations are not permitted.

4. A marginal convenience fee is charged for transactions made via credit/debit card, but there is no convenience fee for UPI-based transactions.
