YouTube to test artificial intelligence-generated quizzes, aims to target educational videos first
Recently, YouTube has agreed to experiment with AI-generated quizzes on its mobile app for iOS and Android devices.

Highlights
- The feature will be helpful in understanding a certain topic according to the users’ interest
- The AI-generated quizz feature can be used by premium YouTube members till 30 July
Recent information has confirmed that Google-owned YouTube is testing artificial intelligence (AI)-generated quizzes on the mobile app home feed. The feature is said to help users in learning about the topics which enthuse their interests, as suggested by the company on the 'YouTube test features and experiments' page.
The AI-generated quizzes will appear on the app's home page, which can be witnessed by the users participating in the experiment. The platform stated that the quizzes will assess the users’ knowledge of a topic covered in a video they recently watched.
"If you choose to take a quiz, a link to the recently watched video will appear under it so you can easily navigate back to learn more about the topic at hand, " stated social media platform.
English content will have the quiz element
According to the company, a small portion of people who watch a few educational videos will receive AI-generated quizzes globally. Notably, only a subset of the English-language content has the quiz element; these links can be found in the recently watched videos section of the home feed.
However, YouTube has long been recognised as a place where viewers can go to learn new things, whether it's how to do a backflip or change a car tyre. The most well-known educational YouTube channels are edutainment channels like TED-Ed and HowToBasic, which have 18.8 million and 17.3 million subscribers, respectively.
YouTube’s recent educational partnership to engage students
YouTube's ‘Study Hall’ programme, which offers college students free access to four courses spanning a variety of topics, including college arithmetic, American history, English composition, and more, was introduced earlier this year in collaboration with Crash Course and Arizona State University.
Moreover, YouTube has been experimenting with new features for Premium members, including a three-strikes ad-blocking policy and lock screen feature.
Indeed, teachers utilise YouTube to create educational content or explore and share videos with their students. Therefore, the new quiz function could be a useful approach to get a deeper comprehension of the subject for people who actually want to learn more.
This feature will be available on Android and iOS, and is currently in testing. However premium members can avail the benefit of this feature until 30 July.
