Prime Minister Narendra Modi has issued a global call to tech enthusiasts and innovators, inviting them to participate in the upcoming Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) Summit 2023. The event is scheduled to be held in New Delhi from 12-14 December. In a LinkedIn post, Modi emphasised the significant role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in transforming various sectors, including technology, innovation, healthcare, education, and agriculture.

 

 

India's AI leap: A decade of remarkable progress

In his post, PM Modi highlighted India's remarkable progress in the last 9-10 years, describing the country as one of the youngest nations with a vibrant start-up ecosystem and a talented workforce. He emphasised India's commitment to being a key player in the evolution of AI, with scalable, secure, affordable, sustainable, and replicable solutions on a global scale. The Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) initiative was cited as a prime example of India's pioneering efforts.

AI for inclusive growth: Modi's vision

Modi expressed India's dedication to leveraging AI for various productive purposes, including personalised education, accessible healthcare, and informed agriculture. He emphasised India's commitment to equitable and inclusive growth, ensuring that technological innovation benefits all citizens. Modi underscored the importance of forums like GPAI, of which India is a co-founder, bringing together 28 member countries and the EU to guide responsible AI development.

India's leadership in GPAI: A commitment to safe & trusted AI

As the Lead Chair of GPAI, India reaffirmed its commitment to harnessing technology, particularly AI, for the welfare of people. Modi highlighted India's active engagement in GPAI initiatives since its inception in June 2020, leading to the nation's election to the council in November 2022. He emphasised India's dedication to creating a regulatory framework for Safe and Trusted AI, ensuring widespread and enduring implementation.
