YouTube Music is adding new mood filters to help users discover music that matches their emotions.

Highlights
- YouTube music enhances user experience with new mood filters and playlists
- Samples is a new creative way for users to discover new music
YouTube's Music app is set to introduce fresh mood filters, enriching the user experience by allowing them to discover music tailored to their emotional state.
Initially launched in 2020 with categories like workout, focus, relax, commute, energise, and podcasts. YouTube will now expand this feature with additional filters, including ‘Cry’, which will offer a curated "Sad Songs Supermix" to connect with users on an emotional level.
Users can experience new mood filters
Alongside ‘Cry’ users can anticipate new mood filters like romance, party, feel good, and sleep, each presenting playlists tailored to match their feelings. These playlists can be conveniently accessed within the app under "Mixed for You" and "From Your Library," complementing existing features like "Listen Again" and "Similar To."
According to a report by 9to5Google, this development was initially discovered by vigilant Reddit users, and it's expected that these new filters will become available soon on both the web and mobile versions of YouTube Music. Notably, the last major update to YouTube Music was in 2021 when ‘Energise’ was introduced, along with mood filters on the web app.
With these recent additions, YouTube Music will now offer a total of eleven mood filters, significantly enhancing the user interface. However, it's essential to remember that the main YouTube app also offers various filters and topics that dynamically shape the Home feed.
Users can discover new music by 'Samples'
Furthermore, YouTube recently introduced ‘Samples,’ a personalised feed of short music video segments designed to help users discover new music. This feature draws from YouTube Music's extensive library of music videos, ensuring a continuous stream of fresh discoveries.
With each sample, users can swiftly add songs to their collections, share them, create playlists, initiate radio stations, view full videos, explore album pages, or even craft their own Shorts. For artists, the Samples tab provides a unique avenue to connect with new fans and foster a community on YouTube.
