Subway Studio: Bringing the Subway Surfers universe to life with AR

Subway Studio gives players the tools to interact, tell stories, and create content with their favourite Subway Surfers characters in their own surroundings. Mathias Gredal Nørvig, the CEO of SYBO, expressed the studio's desire to provide an outlet for user-generated content within the game, as the Subway Surfers hashtag on TikTok has gathered over 34 billion views, mostly consisting of user-created videos.

The CEO said:

"Subway Studio puts the power of creativity and virality in our players' hands, allowing them to interact, tell stories, and create content with their favorite characters in their homes, backyards, workplaces, you name it,"

Using Subway Studio is straightforward,

-Go to the 'Me' section in the game.

-Select your favourite character and tap the camera icon on the left.

-Place them in a real-world environment.

-Capture photos or videos.

-Save and share them with others.

Empowering player creativity and content creation

Murari Vasudevan, the Technical Director at SYBO, commended the team for developing such an advanced feature with numerous creative possibilities.

Subway Studio incorporates cutting-edge mobile AR and camera tracking technologies to create a realistic experience of interacting with Subway Surfers characters in real life, catering to players regardless of their devices' AR capabilities. In response to Subway Surfers' vast community on TikTok, which has over 7.6 million followers, SYBO has also introduced a Subway Studio-themed TikTok filter.

Subway Surfers recently joined the ranks of popular games that have incorporated augmented reality (AR) features. Other notable AR games include Pokémon Go, Minecraft Earth, Ingress, Jurassic World Alive, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, and Angry Birds AR: Isle of Pigs.
