Highlights

  • Instagram introduces tools to combat spam
  • The system automatically identifies spam in comments, followers, story views, and tags
  • Users can easily remove all flagged spam content at once for a cleaner experience

In recent years, Meta has been enhancing its social media and messaging apps, focusing on making self-expression easier. The latest update targets Instagram's Notes feature, refining it by introducing video support and improved replies.

Instagram Notes, akin to a status update, debuted a few months ago with text-only support. Now, it's stepping up its game by allowing two-second videos with loop options and text captions. Users can apply filters and effects to these short videos, which, like other video status updates, vanish after 24 hours.

Enhanced replies

Replying to friends' Notes becomes more dynamic with the addition of audio messages, GIFs, images, stickers, and videos. Replies are now visible as direct messages in the uploader's chat inbox. The Notes feature has gained popularity, especially among teens.

Combating spam with automation

Instagram is rolling out tools to combat spam across the platform. An automated detection system flags spam content in comments, followers, story views, and tags. You can delete all the spam stuff at once to keep your account clean.

Guiding Users

New features assist users in adhering to content policies. Users receive in-app notifications if their posts violate guidelines. The Hidden Words tool, updated in 2021, identifies and filters out suspected spammy content from feeds and comments.

Enhanced updates

Meta's updates on Instagram aim to offer a more dynamic and secure user experience. From video-friendly Notes to effective spam management and guideline adherence, these improvements cater to the evolving needs of users, making Instagram a safer and more expressive space.
