  • Google's manufacturing move in India, corresponding to Samsung and Apple, has a potential pricing impact.

Seven years after unveiling its first Pixel smartphone, Google announced during its Google for India 2023 event that it intends to manufacture its smartphones in India.

Starting with the Pixel 8, Google will collaborate with local and international manufacturers to assemble its phones in the country. Production for the Google flagship, the Pixel 8 will begin next year.

Earlier this month, Google launched the Pixel 8 in India and global markets, alongside the higher-end Pixel 8 Pro model.

This move follows in the footsteps of rivals like Samsung and Apple, who have been making phones in India, though it remains uncertain if it will impact Pixel pricing. Google also plans to expand its service network across more Indian cities and locations, aiming to offer support in additional areas beyond the existing 28 service centers in 27 cities operated by F1 Info Solutions.
