Crypto prices today 28 Dec 2023: Bitcoin surges above $43K mark, Ethereum up by 7.33%

Today, the global crypto market cap increased by 3.40 percent, as Bitcoin recorded a jump of 1.98 percent to $43,190.08 since the previous day.

On Thursday, Bitcoin, the largest crypto across the world, witnessed a growth of 1.98 percent over the last 24 hours. Its value reached $43,190.08, at the time of writing this article (1100 IST). Even the top altcoins registered an increase in their value. Ethereum gained by 7.33 percent and is trading at $2,384.82 over the previous day. Cardano, XRP, and BNB grew by 9.35 percent, 4.67 percent, and 11.36 percent, respectively.

Contrastingly, Solana lost by 4.94 percent, and Avalanche was down by 4.01 percent since the previous day.

On 28 December, the global crypto market cap stood at $1.7 trillion, rising by 3.40 percent, while the total crypto market volume plunged by 1.80 percent to $80.53 billion.

At present, Bitcoin’s dominance is at 49.9 percent, while that of Ethereum is at 16.9 percent.

Gainers and losers

Today's top gainer was Bitcoin SV, which grew by 51.44 percent since the last day. It was followed by Aave, Arbitrum, XDC Network, and Lido DAO, among others.

On the other hand, Bonk was the top decliner of the day, recording a fall of 10.42 percent in its prices. Further, Stacks, Mina, Sei etc. were in the red zone.

Memecoins in the green

Today, most of the popular memecoins displayed upward trajectory. Elon Musk’s favourite Dogecoin rose by 3.77 percent. Shiba Inu, Pepe, Floki, Memecoin, and Bone ShibaSwap also rose by 3.97 percent, 9.92 percent, 10.03 percent, 3.27 percent, and 4.29 percent, respectively. Other memecoins also saw the growth.

Metaverse tokens trade mix

Most of the top Metaverse tokens witnessed a mixed trend in their value. Internet Computer, Theta Network, Decentraland, ApeCoin and WEMIX increased by 11.56 percent, 1.33 percent, 1.29 percent, 4.89 percent and 3.71 percent, respectively. Contrastingly, Stacks decreased by 8.05 percent and Render lost by 1.59 percent.
