Crypto prices today 20 Dec 2023: Bitcoin dips by 0.54%, Metaverse tokens traded in mix

On Wednesday, Bitcoin slipped by 0.54 percent to $42,646.28 since the past day. At the time of writing this article (1030 IST), its nearest rival, Ethereum, also saw a dip by 1.27 percent to $2,206.89.
As the market witnessed a decline, the prices of top tokens like Chainlink and Polygon went down by 2.57 percent and 4.49 percent, respectively, while the value of BNB increased by 3.14 percent.
Further, the overall global crypto market cap witnessed a decrease of 0.34 percent, reaching $1.61 trillion. The total trading volume also witnessed a decrease by 11.64 percent to reach $57.55 billion, indicating low trading activity.
Gainers and decliners
Today's top gainers include NEAR Protocol, Mina, Oasis Network and Sei, which saw a surge of 17.91 percent, 13.67 percent, 11.81 percent, and 11.63 percent respectively. Contrastingly, coins like Bonk, Internet Computer, and BitTorrent (New) were among the top 3 losers.
Memecoins decrease
Popular memecoins were in the red. Elon Musk-backed Dogecoin went down by 1.72 percent to $0.09113. Other memecoins like Shiba Inu and Pepe also decreased by 2.01 percent and 4.22 percent, respectively.
Metaverse showed mixed momentum
Most of the Metaverse tokens were trading mixed today. Internet Computer, Render, and The Sandbox saw a dip of 8.40 percent, 2.22 percent, and 0.07 percent respectively, while, Stacks, Theta Network and Axie Infinity increased by 11.95 percent, 1.39 percent and 0.18 percent, respectively.
