Protokol, a supplier of web3 and blockchain solutions, and the EU-EBSI (European Blockchain Services Infrastructure) VECTOR project, an initiative funded by the EU, are working towards the adoption of blockchain technology to transform the global verification of academic and professional credentials.

In a press release on 7 June 2023, Protokol disclosed a partnership with EBSI Vector that it is developing a decentralised framework for cross-border verification. The project will leverage blockchain technology to construct the next credential verification system in order to make it easier for EU nationals to have their credentials recognised and acknowledged abroad.

According to Protokol CEO Lars Rensing, the objective is to build an open, secure, and decentralised digital infrastructure for the EU and beyond.

"We are honoured to be a part of the EBSI VECTOR initiative and to be collaborating with other leading organisations to build a more open, secure, and decentralised digital infrastructure for Europe and beyond. We look forward to continuing to collaborate with our partners and driving blockchain technology adoption in the coming years."

The EBSI VECTOR Project

The Protokol and EBSI Vector partnership is an important part of the EBSI effort. The aim is to use blockchain technology to improve numerous digital services across industries, including education, healthcare, finance, and more, in terms of efficiency, transparency, and security.

EU residents will receive a Protokol-created digital wallet, which will enable users to safely keep their digital credentials. Additionally, the cross-border user journey will be improved by Protokol's experience in user-friendly design, guaranteeing a simple interaction for those using the credential verification system.

A group of partners from all throughout Europe, including universities, research centres, and IT firms, are working on the project together. To assure the project's success, this diversified collaboration creates a variety of resources and areas of expertise.

The project intends to utilise all the expertise and capacities of numerous stakeholders, including academic institutions, research organisations, and technological specialists, in order to design and execute efficient solutions.

According to a statement, the project will eventually combine other EU efforts, such as "EUeID," for further solutions to facilitate simpler interactions between individuals and organisations.
