Solana Foundation, which is a non-profit foundation based in Zug, Switzerland is dedicated to maintaining and developing the layer-1 Solana blockchain. On 23 May, Solana Foundation declared to integrate AI, with the help of ChatGPT plugins created by Solana Labs.

The ChatGPT plugin, according to developers, is downloadable from GitHub and is said to make it easier to understand Solana data and protocols, or surface data about Solana's computing infrastructure and DeFi projects.
“Every developer building consumer-oriented apps should be thinking about how their app is going to be interacted with through an AI model because this is a new paradigm for telling computers what to do," said Solana co-founder, Anatoly Yakovenko.
The Solana Foundation also said that it would extend its initial promise of $1 million to $10 million to sponsor projects investigating the interface of AI and the Solana blockchain. The ongoing grants programme, according to the developers, has already received 50 applications.
Solana Foundation tests AI and blockchain
The Solana Foundation has also begun a three-month university student accelerator programme, with a full cohort testing both blockchain and AI. The AI cohort has already produced an ask Solana U chatbot, which is designed to answer questions about Solana development and to enhance security for Solana-based programs, according to programme developers. Moreover, the programme has already received hundreds of applications from contributors and projects, stated developers.
Hivemapper, a cryptocurrency network built on top of Solana, introduced AI trainers within its ecosystem last month. The AI trainers are said to transform real-world photography into detailed digital maps with information on covering speed limits and caution signs.
Since then, according to the Solana developers, 5.7 million AI training reviews have been initiated by protocol contributors, with 500,000 objects reaching consensus.
