In order to help people better understand and learn from the information they find on the web, Google is releasing a few new updates to its Search Generative Experience (SGE), the company's conversational mode in Search, which has been around for almost three months.

The feature would include tools to assist a user in better grasping and coding information across languages, tools to see meanings of unfamiliar phrases, and also enabling the users to use SGE's AI capability while browsing.

According to the company, these updates are intended to improve people's understanding of difficult ideas or intricate subjects, as well as to sharpen their coding abilities.

Google’s new feature is all set to simplify coding segments

Simply put, this feature will roll out across all of Google's AI-generated answers to questions or topics about particular fields, such as STEM (Science, technology, engineering and mathematics),economics, history, and others, where users might come across terms they don't understand or concepts they want to explore more for a better understanding.

People who use SGE for programming assistance will benefit from further additional functionality. According to Google, the new features would make it simpler to comprehend and troubleshoot the created code.

As of now, SGE offers AI-generated overviews that assist with activities relating to programming languages and tools. Users can discover answers to their how-to inquiries or view generated code snippets using these overviews. With the new version, code segments will now be color-coded with syntax highlights, making it simpler to distinguish between various parts like keywords, comments, and strings.

The function is created to make it simpler for online users to locate what they're seeking and engage with long-form content from publishers and producers.

Other tech giants are in the race too

Not just Google and Bing are considering the use of AI to summarise text. With its April 2023 update, Instagram's founders' news reading app Artefact also started providing an AI summary function.

To note, similar functionality is available in Bing Chat, where users may highlight the relevant text on a page, choose Bing from the drop-down menu, and start a chat to learn more about the subject.
