The Central Board of Direct Taxes has made it mandatory for all Indian citizens to link their Aadhaar to their PAN. Without this, you will not be able to file taxes nor avail some of the essential services offered by your bank. Here's how you can check if your Aadhaar is linked to your PAN.
- First, go to the website: https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/
Under the Quick Links category on the left, click on the 'Link Aadhaar Status' option
Enter your PAN and Aadhaar number in the boxes provided
The last date for linking Aadhaar with PAN was 30 June
Click on the 'View Link Aadhaar Status' tab on the bottom right corner. You'll get a verification notification if both are linked.
Linking Aadhaar to PAN is mandatory in India and you might not be able to deposit your taxes if not done. This could lead to penalties in the future so ensure that you have linked the two.
