– A passport is an official document that identifies a person as a citizen of a particular country.- It is used for international travel and can also be used as a form of identification.
Go to the Passport Seva website (www.passportindia.gov.in)
STEP 1. Visit The Passport Seva Website
Register to the portal by click on the "Register Now" link on the home screen.
STEP 2. Create A New User Account

After registration, Login to the Passport Seva Online Portal with the registered Login ID.
STEP 3.
Now click on the "Apply" button to apply for a Fresh Passport/Re-issue of Passport.
STEP 4.
Fill in all required details in the form and enter submit.
STEP 5.
You will see the option of View Saved/Submitted Applications, open it.
STEP 6.
STEP 7.
Now click on the "Pay and Schedule Appointment" link to pay the minimum charges for the service.
Note: Online payment has been made mandatory for booking appointments at all PSK/POPSK/PO. - The regular application fee is Rs 1,500 while for the Tatkal passport, the application fee is Rs 2,000.
STEP 8.
After paying the fee via net banking or another available option, click on the "Print Application Receipt" link to print your transaction receipt.
STEP 9.
You will also receive an SMS with the appointment details after the filing of your application. - This message will be needed to show as proof at the Passport Office.
STEP 10.
You will have to visit the nearest Passport Seva Kendra (PSK)/Regional Passport Office (RPO) on the appointment date with all the original documents you submitted during the application.
