Budget Alert: Netflix Hikes Prices In These Countries. Here’s The List

The  streaming giant, Netflix, has officially increased its prices on certain plans, despite the success of its recent crackdown on password sharing. In an effort to bring in even more revenue, the comapny also announced it's raising the price for its most expensive streaming service in these countries.

Beginning Wednesday, Netflix said its Basic and Premium plans will now cost $11.99 (Rs 996.51*) and $22.99 (Rs 1910.73*), respectively, in the US. That's up from the prior $9.99 (Rs 830.28*) and $19.99 (1661.40*) price points.                                                 *as per the latest conversion rates

The US

In France, premium subscribers will pay an extra €2 at €19.99 (Rs 1759.05*), while the basic plan will be € 10.99 (Rs 967.08*).

The basic plan in the UK will now be £7.99 (Rs 806.39*).  On the other hand, the premium plans will now be costing £17.99 (Rs 1815.64*).

In India, the prices for all the tiers remain the same. The mobile plan costs Rs 149 per month, while the basic plan is priced at Rs 199 a month. The Standard and Premium plan is for Rs 499 and Rs 649, respectively.

When asked why Netflix is increasing prices, the streaming giant says that the company delivers more value to its members, so it may occasionally ask them to pay a little more.
