This camera on Chandrayaan 3 will help it capture high-resolution images of the surface of the moon and help scientists with the research. It's designed to produce images with finer details and lower resolutions.
A Ka-band altimeter is a type of radar instrument used for measuring the distance between the instrument and a target surface, often the surface of a planet or moon in space exploration contexts.
It is a specialised camera system used on Chandrayaan 3 to capture images of the terrain directly beneath the vehicle during the descent and landing phase. It is also used for Terrain Mapping, Safe Landing Site Selection and more.
ISRO said that computer logic is also helping Chandrayaan 3. It is helping the aircraft to steer in the right position for landing. Whenever the lander has to take decisions on how to go, it is the guidance and control system that will take the lander on the path for landing.
As per ISRO, the Chandrayaan 3 Mission will be using programmed AI to help it land on the moon. There will be a time when Mission Control won't be able to communicate with the lander and at that time AI will help the Vikram lander reach the Moon's surface.
