Some countries are figuring ways to deal with threats related to general-purpose systems like ChatGPT. While many are considering AI regulation, here's the list of the countries where ChatGPT is banned.
The first western nation to outlaw ChatGPT was Italy. While looking into a possible violation of Europe's strict laws, the Italian Data Protection watchdog ordered OpenAI to temporarily stop processing the data.
China & other nations with strict internet control do not provide ChatGPT. Although it isn't formally prohibited, people in the nation cannot join up for OpenAI.
The Syrian govt. also closely monitors internet activity, preventing people from visiting a number of websites. And as a result, ChatGPT is prohibited in the nation.
As Russia's largest financial institution announced the testing of its AI chatbot Gigachat, the country has entered the AI competition by blocking access to the potent generative ChatGPT.
Since the Trump administration left the nuclear agreement, relations between the US & Iran have gotten worse. Iran has outlawed AI systems due to the country's intense political tension.
